ParkSmart , a parking spot reservation platform founded by graduates from IIT Delhi, Rahul Gupta, Ratan Anmol Sethi, Rishabh Nagpal, Prateek Garg and Vishva Sharma, has raised INR 1.5 CR through ah! Founded in 2019, ParkSmart allows its customers to search, reserve, and pay for a parking spot through a mobile application. It also provides #IoT based smart parking solutions for malls, hospitals, institutes, corporates, etc.

Startup Funding Alert: Poonawalla, Infy co-founder pile into digital content startup JetSynthesys


JetSynthesys Pvt. Ltd., a digital content and technology platform that is part of the diversified JetLine Group of Companies, has raised Rs 300 crore (approximately $40 million at current exchange rate) in funding.

The capital infusion in Pune-based JetSynthesys has been led by the family offices of Serum Institute of India Pvt. Ltd. chief executive officer Adar Poonawalla and Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan.

Other investors in JetSynthesys include the family offices of the promoters of entities such as engineering company Thermax, diversified manufacturer Triveni Group, and the DSP Group. The company operates products and platforms in areas such as gaming, wellness, financial technology, and social entertainment.

It will use the capital it has raised to further develop its suite of digital products and games, as well as strengthen its technological infrastructure in areas such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, augmented and virtual reality, and mixed reality.

EV Battery Technology: US sodium-ion battery developer raises $35M as storage investment surges


Natron Energy, a California-based startup developing a battery using Prussian blue analogue electrodes and a #sodium-ion #electrolyte, has raised $35 million in series D funding round led by ABB Technology Ventures, NanoDimension Capital and Volta Energy Technologies.

Return backers Chevron Technology Ventures, Khosla Ventures, and Prelude Ventures also participated. Fluxus Ventures has also invested in the company, which has received more than $50 million in venture funding and more than $5 million in Advanced Research Projects Agency–Energy (ARPA-E) and US Department of Energy funding.

Natron Energy is the former Alveo, which was founded in 2012, based on work within the Huggins Group by co-founder Dr. Colin Wessells at Stanford University. Although Prussian blue provides modest energy density, the startup claims it is so earth-available and inexpensive that it could provide a cost-effective and sustainable answer for stationary energy storage.

Fisker Raises $50 Million Funding; Will Be Used For Development Of Ocean Electric SUV - carandbike


American electric car manufacturer, Fisker Inc., has announced raising a new $50 million Series C funding from Moore Strategic Ventures, LLC, the private investment vehicle of popular hedge fund manager Louis M. Bacon. The company says that the funds will be used to support the next phase of engineering work on the upcoming Fisker Ocean all-electric luxury SUV, which is slated to be launched in 2022. According to reports, Moore Strategic Ventures LLC has valued Fisker at more than $1.6 billion.

Additionally, Fisker Inc has also announced appointing Burkhard Huhnke as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Fisker Inc. Huhnke served as the former Vice President of e-mobility at Volkswagen America and Vice President of Automotive at chip maker, Synopses. He will lead Fisker's R&D activities in Los Angeles as well as the newly established Fisker Innovation Lab in Silicon Valley.

Startup Funding Alert: Cybersecurity startup Securden raises $1.2M from Accel, others


A report launched in May by NASSCOM-DSCI said the Indian cybersecurity services industry is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of about 21 percent to touch $13.6 billion by 2025. Quantum cryptography startup PQShield exits stealth - SiliconANGLE


Post-quantum cryptography startup PQShield Ltd is exiting stealth mode armed with a suite of tools it says companies can use to safeguard computer systems and other devices from quantum-based attacks.

It also announced £5.5 million ($6.8 million) in seed funding from backers including Kindred Capital, Crane Venture Partners, Oxford Sciences Innovation and angel investor Andre Crawford-Brunt, the former global head of equities at Deutsche Bank AG.

The U.K.-based company is betting on the imminent arrival of full-scale quantum computers, which it says will pose an unprecedented problem for security due to their potential to bypass traditional public-key encryption standards.

Quantum computers are machines that use the properties of quantum physics to store data and perform computations. This can be extremely advantageous for certain tasks and gives them the potential to vastly outperform even the best supercomputers of today.

French startup Synapse Medicine raises $8 million for medical intelligence platform that informs correct drug use - Tech.eu


Synapse Medicine - Medication Intelligence , French creator of a ‘medication intelligence platform’ dedicated to correct drug use, has raised $8 million in a funding round led by by the MACSF, a French insurance provider for healthcare professionals, with the support of XAnge, BNP Paribas, BPI and Nicolas Dessaigne, co-founder of Algolia.

In a press release, the Bordeaux-based startup, co-founded by Clement Goehrs, Louis Letinier and Bruno Thiao-Layel, cited that medicines are responsible for 130,000 hospitalizations and 30,000 deaths annually in countries such as France. “That is the equivalent to the death toll and hospitalization numbers of the COVID-19 epidemic occurring every year in the country,” Synapse points out.

Applying AI to pharmacology, the team wants to ensure the safety of prescription drugs in the new age of #telemedicine by making information widely available — to healthcare institutions, professionals and the general public. The #SaaS platform is also used by #telemedicine companies, integrated into their own platforms as a turnkey prescription solution.

Startup Funding Alert: Former NewMotion CEO invests in Mumbai-based EV charging company BrightBlu


Mumbai-headquartered electric vehicle charging solution company BrightBlu, co-founded by Wybren van der Vaart, Santosh Ram Somasundaram and Saket Anandkrishnan, has announced that the former CEO of EV charge point operator NewMotion, Sytse Zuidema, has become a new shareholder in the company. BrightBlu was formed in 2019, after the merger of Asia Electric, an EV charging solutions company and DrivAmp LLP, a smart charging technology provider.

With this announcement, Zuidema is now an active shareholder and director on the board of the company, BrightBlu. He has acted as the CEO of NewMotion from 2015 until April 2020 and led the company from scale-up stage to being the leading charge point operator in the European market. He provided shareholders of NewMotion with an exit in 2017 when NewMotion was acquired by Royal Dutch Shell.

Online pharmacy 1mg is raising INR 133 Cr ($17 Mn) in debt from existing investors MPOF Mauritius, MAF Mauritius, HBM Healthcare Investment, AG’s subsidiary KWE Beteiligungen and World Bank’s investment arm International Finance Corporation (IFC).

1MG was launched in April 2015 after HealthKart separated its generic drug search business, HealthkartPlus, and rebranded it as 1MG. The company has three business verticals — pharmaceuticals, labs, and doctors. Its founders include — Prashant Tandon, Gaurav Agarwal, and Vikas Chauhan. This year, the company has also received INR 20 Lakh in grant from Action Covid-19 Team (ACT) to tackle Covid-19 crisis in India.

According to DataLabs By Inc42+ estimates, the Indian healthtech market will contribute $21 Bn by 2025, which is still only 3.3% of the total addressable healthcare market which is pegged to reach $638 Bn in 2025. Startups competing with 1mg in the epharmacy space include PharmEasy, Netmeds.com, and Medlife.com. With its labs and doctors vertical, the company also competes with a slew of telemedicine startups such as Practo, Lybrate, MFine, and DocsApp.

Voice filter startup Voicemod - Voicing Up Gamers & Streamers with Mods! has closed an $8 million Series A funding round led by German Bitkraft Ventures. Voicemod provides AI-powered personalized audio avatars that can alter voices in real-time in video games and digital communication services.

Voicemod combines artificial intelligence with digital signal processing to overlay a different sound to someone’s voice as they speak. Aimed largely at the world of gaming, the Spanish startup’s tech can let players switch around to different voice options and even incorporate effects like echos in a tunnel during a ca racing game, or breathlessness when a character has been running for a while. The tech can also perform more straightforward voice alterations like auto-tuning, pitch change, and making the speaker sound like a different gender.

Voice filters designed by Voicemod are used in popular online games like Fortnight, Lague of Legends, Call of Duty Warzone, and Minecraft. It can also apply to video chat and social platforms like Zoom, Discord, and Skype.
