Indian villages can give us tremendous opportunity to develop native herbal medicines

Based on my personal childhood experience in my village, it can be said that Indian villages have vast reservoirs of traditional medical knowledge in using natural herbs and plants for curing wounds/injuries/diseases. Unfortunately, we don't have sufficient research material on the therapeutic value of these native plants and herbs. Rather, as requested by our PM, Shri Naredra Modiji, we should show case this traditional knowledge to the western world on a scientific basis.

While I was in 3rd or 4th standard, a big thorn got into my left sole and it was difficult and painful to take it out immediately. So, a local guy applied paste of Nallalam, (also known as Putlaputlam or Gaddi Chamanthi), a wild plant (small shrub) available in Telangana, to the sole and wrapped a cloth around it. After few days, thorn came out without any pain by squeezing it, as the sole area had become pale yellow and very soft.

In fact, Nallalam (tridax procumbens) clots the blood immediately in case of an accident or cuts; allows the skin layers to form immediately in one or two days of accidents or wounds. The scars out of pimples, wounds and burns would be cured or minimized. Most of the skin problems are curable with these leaves.
